I love to create and opened Bear Booty Boutique to share my love with others! I started out with crocheting wool soakers for my son and then moved onto sewing cloth diapers thanks to the loving support of my mother. I absolutely love making visits to the fabric store and dreaming up new diapers and things to make.
I'm proud to currently offer upcycled wool, crocheted wool soakers, AI2 cloth diapers (they don't need a cover!), fleece longies and soakers, wipe solution cubes, and cloth wipes.
And hoping to offer soon... newbie dypes and soakers and lanolin cubes!
Woolies
Wool is really awesome because it's made of 100% all natural fiber, it's very breathable, and it can hold up to 30% of its own weight in liquid and still feel dry! Wool is also naturally antibacterial so it doesn't need to be washed as often. Because of all these reasons, woolies are awesome night time covers. We never go to bed without our wool!
Upcycled Woolies
Upcycled woolies are made using 100% wool sweaters that I find at various thrift stores. Each one is sized so be sure to measure your baby prior to purchasing.
Crocheted Woolies
My wool soakers are crocheted using 100% wool yarn and are crocheted by me :) They are also sized so be sure to measure your baby prior to purchasing.
Woolies will arrive washed and lanolized. When the woolies arrive they are ready to wear.
I recommend washing and relanolizing your woolies every 2-3 weeks (unless poo gets on them or they start to smell, then wash them sooner!). DO NOT wash your woolies in the washing machine or in hot water. DO NOT dry your woolies in the dryer. Follow my recommended washing steps for the best life out of your new woolies!
Washing Steps:
1. Fill a bucket or large (VERY BIG!) bowl with warm tepid water (not too hot or too cold... just right, Goldilocks).
2. Add a squirt of baby wash to the bowl
3. Add woolies and swish around
4. Remove from bowl and rinse soap from woolies
5. Dump out soapy water and add new tepid water to bowl
6. Melt a large pea size amount of lanolin (more lanolin if more than 1 woolie) in a cup of water in the microwave and add to bowl
7. Swirl around to mix then drop in wool and swish around.
8. Let soak for about 5 minutes.
9. Remove soaker and flip inside out then return to bowl.
10. Let soak for about 25 minutes.
11. Remove soaker.
12. Take a squishy towel and roll the soaker in it to remove excess water.
13. Lay soaker out flat somewhere safe and well ventilated to dry.
14. Check soaker after 24-48 hours. It can take up to 48 hours to dry completely.
TA-DA! You have lanolized your wool!
*Should you (or should I say baby) get poo on your wool don't fret! Remove as much poo as you can with toilet paper then take a bar of soap or wash cloth with baby wash and gently scrub poo spots. When done follow above steps.
AI2s
My AI2 diapers have a hidden waterproof barrier of PUL so no need for a cover! You don't have to cover up that cute print! The inside of the AI2s are made with antipill fleece to help prevent leaks (fleece is water resistant). With a fold down rise, my diapers are One Size Fits...most with a weight range of 8 to 35lbs (weight ranges are approximate because of different shapes and sizes of babies). All AI2s come with a snap in petal style soaker made of layers organic bamboo fleece and with a hidden layer of Zorb. AI2s also come with a matching lay in doubler. Diapers are turned and top stitched for baby's comfort. To get the most out of your diapers follow the below recommended wash routine with a cloth diaper safe detergent. DO NOT use bleach. You can use white vinegar occasionally in a rinse cycle to strip or get rid of stinkies if needed.
Washing Steps:
1. Dispose of solids (swish in the bowl, spray off with a sprayer, or scrape off... unless your exclusively breastfeeding then don't worry about it! EBF poo is water soluble).
2.Cold Rinse
3. Hot wash/Cold Rinse with cloth diaper safe detergent.
4. Cold Rinse to get off all of the detergent residue.
5. Hang or Tumble Dry in dryer.
*When you first receive your diaper make sure you wash and dry in the dryer on HOT to seal sewing holes in the PUL! Also the soaker will need to be prepped by either boiling or washing 3 times in hot water to get the natural oils out. Soakers will reach maximum absorbancy after about 10 washes.
Fleece Longies and Soakers
Fleece longies and soakers are a good option as a cover for those who find wool too much of a hassle. Fleece can be washed like any other normal laundry. Fleece is water resistant and can be used to keep baby dry through the night or any time extra protection is needed. Using fabric softener on fleece will help it become more water resistant. Fleece longies and soakers are sized so be sure to measure your baby before ordering. Fleece is also soft and cozy on baby's bare skin!
Wipes
My wipes are a cozy terry cloth backed with soft flannel. Extra comfy for your little bear's bare booty (and super helpful at getting off sticky messes)! You can use them with water, a homemade solution, or store bought wipe solution. After they are used throw them in the wash with your cloth diapers and you're all done (shake off any poo into the toilet)!
Wipe Solution Discs
Wipe solution discs are handcrafted from a mild glycerin base featuring shea butter; extra moisterizing for baby's bare bits. 100% veggie sources with NO animal testing. Infused with Tea Tree Oil to be soothing on baby's skin and to keep away yeast and other ickies. Each order comes with 36 discs. That makes 72 cups of wipe solution! To use simply add 1 disc to 2 cups of
water or cut 1 disc in half to add to 1 cup of water. Put solution in a sprayer or a wipe warmer. They dissolve best in warm water. CAUTION: WATER MUST BE COOLED BEFORE USING ON BABY.

I hope y'all love the products as much as I love making them!
