Home sweet home

I've been out of town for the last week or so visiting friends. It was a fun break but now I'm ready to get back into routine! So is Caiden... I'm pretty sure that boy NEEDS routine.

Just a quick post today because we have evening plans but I didn't want yall to think I forgot about you!

Spring!

I love spring! Love love love LOVE spring! Especially here in Florida. The weather is just perfect. Not too cold, not too hot. Just love it. Today is an awesome spring day so I've been doing some spring cleaning around the house. I also feel super motivated to get a few things done for the store today. So we'll see how that goes.

On one of my BBC forums I'm on they've started doing a weekly blog sewing challenge and I'm going to jump in.  This week's theme was "Picture Perfect" so it need to be something camera/picture related.

Here's a picture of the lens pouch I made. I think I'm planning on listing these in my store as well. They're padded and lined but not too overly done. I love them :)

Now I just need lots of new fun lenses to make bags for!

I also sewed up a cute nightgown with matching cloth trainer for our friend's daughter's birthday

One day I will have a cute little girl to sew fun girly things for. But until then my friends' have little cuties so I'll have to live vicariously through them.

And over a month later....

I'm baaaack! I finally got my new camera today so I feel like I can get back to blogging (and stocking the store!).

A big part of blogging to me is sharing pretty pictures and I just felt poo-ey about having to use my crappy cell pictures. My Canon Rebel came in today and I immediately sewed a camera strap cover for it. I'm planning a coordinating padded bag and some lens pouches too. I love love LOVE my new camera

It's been a long day filled with fussy baby, flat tires, and late mail men. So I'm off for now. But I promise to be back soon and be more vigilant about posting!

Brrrrr!

There's something about cold weather that sucks all the motivation out of me. Today is most likely going to be a pj day. But who doesn't love those days?

I'm officially one year older now :) My birthday was this week and I made the most DELICIOUS oreo ice cream cake. It's seriously absolute heaven. Since it fell during the middle of the week, my birthday was pretty low-key this year. But hey, I'll just have another one next year!

My big excitement over my birthday though was the bread machine my mom got me. It's absolutely fabulous! I've made sandwich bread, bagels, garlic basil bread, and apple pecan bread so far. I just love it. I even made a reusable bread bag to store all my loafs of bread in. I also have the option to make jams and doughs! I'm thinking tonight I'll make cherry turnovers. I can't wait for the Strawberry Festival in March so I can make a bunch of jam :)

My stupid camera died recently so all my pictures for the next couple of weeks are going to be ugly. I'm so lost without my camera. But this gives me the opportunity for an upgrade :) I'm looking at the Canon Rebel. Pretty excited. I even have a pattern to make a cute padded bag/carrying case for it.

I've got some new and fun things in the works for the Boutique. I added a "Green Living" section which will be filled with accessories for living in a "Green" household. I'll be adding things slowly as I finish them and come up with new ideas. First up is reusable swiffer pads! Those will be sold in packs of three along with a "recipe" card for floor cleaner. Some of you may have seen the coffee mug cozies that were already added around the holidays :) Keeps your drink warm and your hands cool! Eventually polymer clay buttons will probably be added too. I've just started playing with all that and I want to perfect my ideas before I add them. Also soon I'm hoping to stock up on a bunch of yarn to get to work on soakers and longies for the store. I've just been in a knitting mood lately. And of course when those come out, so will the wool wash bars :) I made a few of those last week to get to scrubbin on my newly knitted wool. The wool wash bars turn lanolizing and washing your woolies into one step!

I'm growing my own herbs in my kitchen :) I've got seven different plants growing. One day when they get big and strong I'm going to clip them up and make yummy homemade seasonings out of them

New Year's Resolution (and Happy Holidays!)

Hi everyone! I've been bad... again... some more... I know! I've been crafting like a crazy person for the holidays. For some reason this year I was just super overwhelmed! I think kiddos add that extra little "oomph" to the difficulty of getting things done.

My New Year's resolution for next year is to save more and spend less. I'm going to get super organized with my couponing and meal planning! I'm actually pretty excited. I downloaded this super cute template that I'm going to laminate and rewrite every week with a dry erase pen.

My other resolution is to give my blog the attention it deserves!

I'm on the naughty list

I've been a bad blogger. A very, very bad blogger. My apologies! I'm going to blame Holiday madness. I've been running around like a crazy person since about mid November.

For Thanksgiving we went out of town to visit the in-laws. It was fun but sooo cold! It gets chilly up there in Tennessee. Or maybe I'm just a baby from living in Florida now :) It was nice for all of the hubby's family to finally meet Caiden. We celebrated his birthday a little early at Chucky Cheese. He had a pretty good time :)



Once we got back from vacation it was his actual birthday. I can't believe how quickly the last year has gone. My little baby is growing into such an amazing little boy. I cherish him so much and am reminded every day how lucky I am to have him. He is my biggest joy and inspiration.

In other news, I'm participating in a local trunk show next week. That should be fun and a good way to get my name out locally. I'm in the process of cutting and sewing over 20 diapers to take. I'm like a crazy assembly line at this point.

Also an important note... from now on all Bear Booty Boutique giveaways/promotions will be done from this blog. Facebook has made it impossible to do so without having to pay a third party application to do them. Not cool.

Hi all! The last week has been kind of busy. Caiden and I both got sick which is no fun at all. He seems to be getting better but I'm starting to feel worse. I haven't done a lot of sewing for the store lately because I've been scrambling to get holiday things and Caiden's birthday presents done. I'm slowly but surely working through everything.

  

  

  

I set up my Etsy store today. I think I will have better luck selling there instead of Hyenacart. I'm hoping so at least. http://www.bearbootyboutique.etsy.com/

Oh and I made the CUTEST newborn longies and diaper for my friend who's due like any day now.

 

But right now all I really want is some tea, my couch, a warm blanket, netflix, and a good baby. So let's cross our fingers.

Good Morning!

G'morning, yall! I hope everyone had a fabulous Halloween weekend. Ours was pretty eventful and fun. I can't believe it's November already! The holidays and Caiden's birthday are right around the corner.

I'm peacefully typing away and enjoying my English muffin and coffee because Caiden is still sleeping... IN HIS BED! Yep. We transitioned my big boy into his own room and he sleeps so much better now. It makes me happy to get use of the nursery too because we worked so hard on it. It's a pirate theme :) I love pirates.

On Friday the hubby went and sky dived with the Army's SOCOM paracommandos. He jumped at 13,500 and had a 60 second free fall! It was crazy. I could never ever do that. I don't like to fly let alone jump out of airplanes. It pretty much just solidified his desire to go special forces. He wasn't even nervous!

Halloween was a pretty relaxed day. I made the most delicious pumpkin rolls I have ever tasted! They're seriously like heaven. I baked Caiden's little pie pumpkin so they were made with fresh pumpkin. So yum. We carved our big pumpkins when Caiden took his afternoon nap, otherwise he probably would have been eating the innards :) Caiden's a little young to go real Trick or Treating so we dressed him up just to take pictures on the porch. Then we stayed in and watched ghost shows and handed out candy. We really didn't get too many Trick or Treaters. Oh well, more candy for us :)

I've been crazy busy planning holiday gifts. Also I've been crocheting Caiden a pair of longies. I finished them initially when we were at Skydive City but they were too small :( So I took them completely apart and redid them. They're perfect now! I have to start over the Very Hungry Caterpillar pair too. My two skeins don't match so I'm going to have to alternate rows. I'm making Caiden a matching hat too :) I also made little red shoes to go with his Christmas longies.



The baby is still sleeping! It's almost 10. Craziness I tell you. But good for me because Mondays are my chore day. My dishes are sitting there in my sink judging me so I'm off to show them who's boss.
